Dating For those single mums looking to form a new relationship and who may need a helping and guiding hand through the process, we are pulling together contact details for a number of sites that have been recommended to us. Please let us know which sites have worked for you and why, drop us a line at dating@onlymums.org. Sarah Beeny's My Single Friend Having found myself single again at 40 with 2 young children, the idea of dating again filled me with dread! Having been married for the past 17 years, I had no idea where to even begin to meet someone. I had been single for a good year before I realised that I was actually quite lonely and craved company as well as affection. A good friend of mine from work suggested that I try on line dating. Initially I was horrified by the idea, and thought she must be joking, surely I wasn't that desperate! After some convincing and a few glasses of wine, we began to look to look at some of the on line dating websites. My friend suggested Sarah Benny’s website, 'My single Friend'. I was pleasantly surprised by how many people just like me were on it, interesting, single parents in their 40's, some of whom were even quite dishy! The idea is, your friend writes a profile of you, together with a photo (or not if you prefer) and any preferences you have, which is so much easier than writing about yourself! Then you sit back and wait to see who replies. Replies come via the website, so your email address is not available to anyone, unless of course you give it to them, which is not necessary as you can communicate through the website. Then it's down to you to decide whether or not to meet up! The beauty of it is, you don't need to hang out in pubs and bars, eyeing up strangers, only to find out after a few drinks you have absolutely nothing in common. You can find out so much about a person before you even contemplate meeting, so that when you do decide to meet, you know you have things in common and share the same interests. I meet some really interesting people through this website, and what fun I had dating again! I am now very happily settled with my partner who I met through this website. I would recommend this website to anyone of any age, it is friendly, safe and so much fun! You are not alone! Sarah, Cambridge Lesley at The Introduction Company, meets everyone personally at her office. She explains "I spend a good deal of time over this meeting, seeing only one person per day. It's never easy starting again but at least this way I get to know how things really are for you and can match you up accordingly. No photos or profiles to wade through either. I organise the entire date from start to finish and then the following day I'm waiting by the phone for your feedback. It helps to know how things went and if you didn't pluck up the courage to ask for his phone number I'm the go between to make sure things happen. I'm always on hand to lead you through the process and ready with suggestions and guidance if you need it. You would get unlimited introductions to women I have personally met and spent time with. (Three year's membership for £490 in total and A.B.I.A. approved) I also offer monthly "Meet & Greet" events in York where non members are most welcome- very informal, drink and chat style evenings. These are useful if you don't know where to go to meet new people."
Classical Partners, established in 1992, is the introduction agency for unattached people with an interest in the arts and music. We cover age range 20s to 60s and all parts of England. Many of our members are divorced parents themselves or are interested in meeting others with children. As well as arranging one-to-one introductions we organise social events such as concert or theatre evenings and soirees.
